23 Dec 2011
Despite the current economic downturn there are positive indicators in the marketplace with many startup businesses experiencing growth with innovative ideas. These were the overall findings of the judging panel at the recent Inspire Ireland competition, an initiative organized by the Irish Executives Network. The main purpose of the competition was to stimulate and support new business ideas in Ireland, to help create additional jobs and provide recognition to inspiring start up Irish businesses.
“We used our LinkedIn group and our newly announced online video collaboration platform, Irish Executives TV, to make something tangible happen which we hope will make a real difference in Ireland ” said Pascal Derrien of Microsoft and a member of Irish Executive’s Leadership Team. Members of the Irish Executives network answered the call to action and offered over €150,000 worth of in-kind business services for the competition. “It was inspirational in itself to raise so much in-kind and to have so many people and organizations come forward and willing to help” said Barry Walsh, idea creator and MD of People Development Co.
The overall winner of the competition was Dublin based technology company Kinesense Ltd who develops innovative video search, retrieval, and analysis technology for police and intelligence services. Co-founder of Kinesense and competition winner Dr. Mark Sugrue explains;
“Our main product helps investigators to rapidly search, detect, retrieve and prepare video evidence quickly and reliably to speed investigations, reduce effort, and ensure evidential integrity. Kinesense is delighted to win 1st prize in the inaugural Inspire Ireland competition amongst very stiff competition. Participating and winning gives us confidence and we are excited to fully utilize the services from experts in the Irish Executives Network to help develop and expand our business further ”.

Irish Executive Generosity Set to Inspire Ireland
7 Nov 2011
“Inspire Ireland” is an initiative designed to stimulate new business in Ireland. Irish businesses at home and abroad have offered €150,000 worth of in-kind business services to the top three entries.
The project was initiated through the voluntary efforts of “Irish Executives Network”, a 3.5 year old LinkedIn group dedicated to networking Irish business interests both at home and abroad.
“We are using our LinkedIn group and our newly announced online collaboration platform; Irish Executives TV to make something tangible happen which will make a real difference in Ireland” said Pascal Derrien of Microsoft and a member of Irish Executive’s Leadership Team.
Generosity, collaboration and idea sharing are the key principles behind the initiative. It is a message to the community about the power of pulling together for the greater good of Irish business.
“We have simply asked our members who have managed to get their businesses up and running to now offer their products or services to support someone else, it’s simple but very effective says Barry Walsh of Irish Executives.
The winners can self-select from a range of products and services listed. Irish Executive’s goal is to share skills and resources to create at least one profitable business for the Irish economy.
The competition is open to anyone with a business idea that will help. A simple online application form is available on www.irishexecutives.com. Seven finalists will be chosen by the end of November and each will present their idea live on Irish Executives TV on 12th December next.
